Why you should choose e-bikes over e-bicycles

Many of you might think that e-bikes and e-bicycles are same. But they aren’t! Both are different in many ways – Right from their mechanism to their performance.

Electric bicycles look like the conventional bicycles. Both have pedals, drive chain, seat post, stem and handlebars. The only difference is that electric bicycles have a motor, controllers and a battery. On the other hand, e-bikes are battery bikes that look like fuel-driven two-wheelers. But they run through electric power and don’t use conventional fuels such as petrol, diesel or gas. They are free from any kind of air or noise pollution. They support green transportation.

However e-bicycles are also an eco-friendly and economical option for daily transportation, following are some reasons why you should choose e-bikes over bicycles:

E-bikes are easy to drive
In case of bicycles, you need to pedal it to make it run and it requires too much energy in order to cover longer distance. On the contrary, e-bike comes with accelerator and hence, you don’t need to pedal it. So without any physical strain, you can travel as much as you want. And unlike many conventional scooters, they come with key-start feature which assures that you don’t have to apply the kick. Just insert the key, turn it and it is good to go!

They save your time
YObykes and many other battery bikes offer a good driving speed, more than what a bicycle can offer. So choosing an e-scooter as your daily travel partner can save you lot of time. It is a safe and cost-effective option for daily transportation, especially for corporates and school-going children.

Ideal for all age groups
As far as your grandparents are concerned, cycles are not a feasible commute option as they require too much physical strain. On the other hand, YObykes come with safe speed and easy-to-use controls which make them ideal even for your grandparents.

Why to go for any other two-wheeler when an e-bike can become your safe and economical travel mate? Experience a test ride today!

Battery bikes – The solution of Delhi’s severe air pollution

Considering the constantly increasing level of air pollution in Indian capital New Delhi, the government is continuously trying hard. To fight the situation, they have always been declaring some major announcements apart from Odd-Even Vehicle Program.

This time again, the Supreme Court has come up with an important announcement while responding to a petition made by three infants. In their petition, these children have complained – “Our lungs have not yet fully developed and we cannot take further pollution through bursting of crackers.” Hence, the Supreme Court has put a ban on selling the firecrackers in New Delhi and its neighboring areas. According to this announcement by the court, no new licenses will be given to sell the firecrackers and the existing licenses will be suspended. The ban, which has been applied in the middle of the wedding season, has to be imposed by the center. But after all, this is another effort that the government has put to curb the severity of air pollution in this city.

I and you, we all know that we follow such practices that pollute the air. Burning the organic waste and toxic gases emissions from industrial chimneys are two key reasons behind the pollution. But the most remarkable cause is our vehicles which are conventional and use gas, diesel or gas as fuel.

Do we have any major solution? Yes, we have electric scooters that are zero-pollution two-wheelers. 11 Quick tips for a smooth and carefree YO ride

One of the best things about YObykes is that they don’t ask much for maintenance. They are as easy to maintain as to drive and you don’t have to give your much in order to keep these electric scooters running well.

Conventional vehicles on the other hand, have complex mechanisms such as engine, clutch plates and gear box and are tough to maintain. You need to take them to a mechanic for a repair and that too, cost you so much. But electric bikes manufactured by YObykes hold a simple mechanism. They have an efficient rechargeable battery and a BLDC hub motor to count as major components.

Here are 11 quick tips to keep your electric bike running well and enjoy a carefree ride:
1. Regularly charge the battery of your bike and avoid discharge in use.
2. If it has not been used for three or more weeks, then charge it first before you use it.
3. Prefer to use only an Electrotherm-supplied/approved charger to maintain a good battery life.
4. Do not try to dismantle either charger or battery.
5. Avoid overloading or over speeding your vehicle as this will substantially reduce its range.
6. Avoid racing start as it can faster drain the energy from its battery. So avoid fast acceleration.
7. Avoid frequent and unnecessary braking.
8. Maintain proper pressure in the tyres. Under-inflation can increase the rolling resistance and waste the energy.
9. Turn off the power whenever your electric scooter is not in use (At road crossing signals etc.).
10. Lubricate all moving parts that are exposed to atmosphere – chain, axles, pedal pivots, brake lever joints, etc. Lubricate these parts more often in dusty and rainy conditions.
11. Don’t use water-under-pressure while cleaning your battery bike in order to prevent damage to electrical components.
So keep these tips in mind and let your electric scooter keep going. Have a smooth YO ride!

Steps taken to combat air pollution in Delhi

As we all know, India’s capital has been facing a crucial issue of air pollution since long and after this Diwali, it has even got worse! The air quality has reached the severe level with particulate matter reaching 15 times than the safety limit.

New Delhi, the most populous city in India, is engulfed by heavy toxic smog which is a mixture of dust, vehicle exhaust, moisture and smoke from burning debris and plants. This haze has caused the second-worst condition in city in the last ten years.

Even after the continuous steps taken by Delhi Government such as ‘Odd-Even vehicle program’, there is no improvement in the weather condition. On the contrary, the situation is getting worse day by day. To combat this severe smog, Government of this metro city recently declared some steps which hopefully, would be able to improve the overall scenario.

Key Steps announced by Delhi Government

  • Until Wednesday, all schools will remain shut.

  • A coal power plant Badarpur Thermal Power Station will remain closed for 10 days.

  • All types of demolition and construction activities can’t be carried out until Friday.

  • At least once a week, the Public Works Department shall sprinkle water on 100-foot and longer roads.

  • Use of diesel-powered generators is prohibited for a few days.

  • From November 10, all roads will be vacuum-cleaned.

  • The odd-even vehicle program shall be re-introduced in the city in order to reduce traffic jam situations and the haze.

  • The possibilities of developing artificial rain shall be thought to remove dust from the air.

However Delhi is captured by the worst condition, not other cities are left behind. Many other metro and mega cities in our country are also facing increased air pollution. Government is doing anything and everything to curb the pollution. But what are we doing?

Our take on curbing air pollution

  • Avoid automobiles powered by petrol, gas and diesel

  • Start using electric scooters and battery bikes

  • Increase the use of renewable energy (solar cooker, etc.)

  • Make people stop cutting trees

  • Plant more and more saplings

  • Prefer public transport over personal

Considering what is happening in Delhi and other Tier I and II cities in India, we need to do our best to address the issue on immediate basis. And as automobile exhaust is the major cause of toxic smog, we should avoid using petrol and diesel vehicles and increase the use of electric scooters. It is the most effective way to curb air pollution.
